New exhibition at the History Meeting House
From 17 October to 6 December
With a view of Mount Ararat. The fate of Armenians in Poland.
Organizers: History Meeting House, Foundation of Culture and Heritage of Polish Armenians
By its unusual form the exhibition refers to the interior of an Armenian church. The history of Armenians is told from the perspective of people who came to be bound with Poland by chance: merchants, craftsmen, landowners, teachers, priests, social activists … Some of the presented families came to Poland back in the 14th century. The exhibition will show us the 19th century will of Antonina Abgarowicz and the heartbreaking story of Arusiak Awdalian, an Armenian woman whose family had to flee the Turks in 1915. Representatives of the Armenian minority are living in Poland also today and cultivate their tradition far away from their homeland. The exhibition is supplemented with information about Armenia and the history of Armenians in Poland, short documentaries, and almost 100 contemporary photo portraits. It is accompanied by Armenian Navy Band’s music.
