Wandering through invisible Warsaw – workshops for visually impaired people

The multi-sensory experience will help participants to learn about the history of Warsaw in the 20th century. Specially designed models and maps will allow for a travel in time trhough particular parts of the capital city. With the help of touch we will examine old dresses, toys and objects of every day use. We will experience the smells which were familiar to our great-grandparents, grandparents and parents. We will listen to calls of newspaper-boys, to announcements delivered by Germans through loudspeakers and to the noise of pre-war Marszałkowska Street and Nalewki quarter. Citizens of Warsaw will tell us about the most dramatic moments in the history of the city.
The project Wandering trough invisible Warsaw is aimed at visually impaired people. The multitude of sources used includes witnesses' accounts collected by the Oral History Archive, other audio recordings, original artefacts and clothing and specially designed models and maps of Warsaw. Primary and secondary school pupils are invited to participate in the project.
Within the project it is possible to participate in one or in a series of workshops:
•    Warsaw in the 1920s and 1930s
•    Occupied Warsaw
•    Post-war Warsaw
